Scalp Micropigmentation

Scalp Micropigmentation

What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Scalp micropigmentation is a process by which a small amount of pigment is added within the hair follicles, making it look like you have a perfectly shaved head. It is non-surgical and requires no pain relief. Unlike a conventional tattoo, the ink used does not contain metals and is not permanent, which ensures it looks perfectly natural, will not fade to blue and can be touched up regularly to make it look good.

Each treatment can last between one to three hours with micropigmentation, depending on how wide an area you need covered. Typically there is a delay between the initial treatment and the follow-up treatment of around one to four weeks, which enables the pigment to develop naturally into the skin. This ensures that the practitioner will see what will be the product of the finished paint and change the colors used to ensure a realistic finish.

Most clients need 3 appointments; sometime even 4.    When the procedure is complete, the color will last up to two years, but you will come back and have things checked and cared for during that time. There's no downtime, no reason to take off work longer than the appointment period, and because the follicles are usually built up over time, even your closest friends will fail to recognize a major difference.

How painful is it?

People have their own tolerance for pain because micropigmentation is more painful for some scalp than it is for others. If you've ever had a typical tattoo, let us assure you that it isn't that painful! This is because cosmetic tattoos merely inject the pigment into the skin's upper dermis. Traditional tattoos need to be inserted much deeper, which means that the needle is larger, harder, and reaches through the skin more.

Some clients liken the feeling of a hair tattoo to a scratchy feeling; others hardly feel anything at all. If we said there was no discomfort at all, we would be lying, but on a scale of one to ten, the pain is typically graded to about three. The scalp may feel a little tender after the procedure but most people do not experience any pain at all.

How effective is it?

We think scalp micropigmentation looks fantastic. Not only can you end up with a perfect, clean shaven look, but you can also redesign your hairline to frame your face in the most appealing way possible. Our technician is extremely professional and carefully replicates a natural follicle dispersion, adapting the color and scale of the individual pigments to mimic your own personalized look.

Scalp micropigmentation is also extremely beneficial for those who aren't bald but suffer from thinning or missing hair otherwise. It can be applied over scars, covering places where the hair no longer grows after trauma, and can be used to darken places where the hair is thin, giving the appearance of thicker, fuller hair on top.
